Idea

Premium Food Design Hub is a special program which supports high quality products development and innovations in the domestic food industry.

This program, initiated by USAID, brings together businesses from this sector with accelerators such as: Nova Iskra, Impact Hub, Desing Taste Center and Business Innovation Center in a unique and innovative way in order to support the process of developing high quality products according to trends on the market and needs of a consumer.

WHY?

Due to a numbers of problems, many great business ideas and quality food products does not always find its way to the final consumers. In order to help overcome these problems, USAID Competitive Economy Project, initiated Premium Food Design Hub, a new concept of support for high quality food production.

How?

Nova Iskra organized Design Food Hub contest for participation in program on improving the quality and design of food products and 30 micro, small, medium and family businesses interested in program applied for contest, as well as cooperatives from the food processing industry (fruit and vegetables).

A list of final participants in the Design Food Hub Nova Iskra was created after the interviews with the applicants who passed the initial selection round:

Nut Enough, a company that produces natural sweet creams from nuts, using traditional fine stone grinding method

Association of fruit and wine growers Smederevsko blago, which produces dried fruit and vegetables.

Fatalni začini, organization that breeds and processes chilli peppers and tomatoes from Vukićevica village

Within the program, which is specially adapted to the needs of these companies, Nova Iskra provides expert assistance and support for these small businesses in order to reach their full potential and become present with their products in the competitive market for premium food products.

What is the next step?

The aim of the program is to attract domestic and foreign consumers, but also to lead to increase of sales and export.
