British Council announces the open call for the Digital Cities program

The British Council invites hubs, startups and small and medium-sized enterprises from the Western Balkans to apply for participation in the regional Digital Cities program. The idea of the program is to link UK cities with cities from the Western Balkans region through digital industries, with a focus on innovation in the creative industries and application of technology in the field of education. The project is funded by the British government, and implemented by The British Council in partnership with the Culture Code association (Nova Iskra), and Creative England.
Through this program, the organizers intend to contribute to the development of digital technologies in both the Western Balkans and the UK, through strengthening strategies and policies, facilitating hubs and city networks, as well as via skills development of professionals and hub leaders. The program will connect those who are already developing city-level strategic documents and policies, as well as startups, digital/creative hubs and SMEs working on projects of within the fields of digitalization, creative industries and digital education.
The project participants will have the opportunity to participate in the research of needs of digital industries actors in the region, engage in two events in the Western Balkans focused on capacity building and networking, with participation of experts from the UK and the region. Participants will be able to connect with similar British organizations and visit them within a mobility exchange that will take place in January and February. The project will also support participants to develop collaborative projects with UK counterparts, and apply for grants provided by the British Council. The final event that will gather all of the participants will take place in the UK, at the end of March 2018.
