GLAMMONS Final Conference Follow-up

Last week in Athens, we participated in the GLAMMONS Final Conference – Commons & Commoning in and for Cultural Production, a gathering that brought together researchers, cultural practitioners, and institutions committed to reimagining how we create and share common values in culture in GLAM institutions.

In our panel, Collaborative cultural production and skills development in CCIs: What can we learn from the commons?, Katarina Živanović & Anđela Petrović (Nova Iskra Creative Hub) reflected on how commons-based practices can shape the skills, relationships, and infrastructures that cultural and creative sectors need today.

What stood out was the recognition that skills are not just individual assets but shared capacities—emerging from collaboration, co-learning, and the willingness to build together. The commons perspective offers us not only tools for sustainability, but also a mindset for working with greater openness, trust, and reciprocity.

As GLAMMONS concludes, this conference reminded us that the future of cultural production lies in cultivating the power of communities, shared resources, common values, and collective resilience.
