Nova Iskra at DAN D festival
Nova Iskra will have the pleasure of presenting itself at the 6th edition of the international design festival Dan D, which is held in Zagreb from July 3rd to 5th, at the complex of the former military hospital in Vlaška street.
After the previous festival at the Old Slaughterhouse and the complex of the former TŽV Gredelj, Dan D is once more occupying one of the abandoned city locations, and is in this way illustrating the potential scenarios of the use and revision of these important objects within the wider city center.
The festival program brings a series of exhibitions (D-exhibiton, D- market, regional exhibition Young Balkan Designers, student exhibitions…), panels, discussions, lectures and workshops, as well as the accompanying entertaining program.
As part of the cooperation with the Rendez-vous manifestation, the French festival in Croatia, the renowned international designer and typographer Jean François Porchez will be visiting Zagreb and will hold a workshop for students, followed by a public lecture.
Within the theme of this year’s festival - Design Archive - a series of recent, as well as entirely new exhibitions and research projects will be presented, all with a different approach to the history of design. An open discussion about the notion of design archive will be held, with important questions raised, such as what have we learned, how do we read and interoperate our own design heritage, how do we record its fragments, what new narrative structure do we give it, and the last - what does it all tell us about our own position today? The thematic part of the festival will thus present a series of characteristic projects which have explored the history of design in different ways in the past few years.
Nova Iskra will be showcased through a presentation of our General Manager Marko Radenković, on Friday, July 3rd.
