A look back at Craft Academy in Thessaloniki
As part of the European project Craftwork 4.0 All, Craft Academy brought together artists and creatives from across Europe for three days of hands-on workshops, material experimentation and knowledge exchange, hosted by CUBE Non-Profit Organisation in Thessaloniki.
The programme explored creative ways to reuse materials, from recycled aluminium to discarded textiles, showing how traditional techniques and sustainable practices can inspire new approaches to making.
Among the participants were Jelena Vuksanović, multidisciplinary designer, and Marina Čabrilo (BezVez), a textile artist and embroidery workshop facilitator whose practice combines social themes, playfulness and creative experimentation.
For Marina, the experience meant fresh knowledge, a return to techniques that had taken a back seat, and, above all, meaningful connections with artists from across Europe. A reminder that creativity is not only about what we make, but also what we learn and share along the way.
