Nova Iskra at conferences in Florence, Zagreb, Athens and Mallorca

This winter, Nova Iskra had the pleasure to participate at several important European and regional conferences focused on creative industries.

Within this year’s biennial manifestation European League of Institutes of the Arts(ELIA) entitled Turning Mirrors into Windows, Nova Iskra presented new models of informal education intended for professionals in the fields of creative industries, especially for those who work in multidisciplinary and collaborative environments. The 14th ELIA conference held in Florence, hosted over 400 participants, presenters and speakers from all over Europe. ELIA gathers around 350 artistic educational institutions in the fields of theater, visual arts, architecture, new media and design from more than 47 countries.

Within the Practicing Design conference, Program Manager of Nova Iskra Relja Bobić participated in the New Regional Practices in Design Education panel. Practicing Design conference and the accompanying exhibition were held January 20th – 21th in Zagreb, Croatia. Croatian Designers Assciation presented the final event of the Design in Practice project, with results of the two-year work by seven international partner organizations from the fields of education, business and the civil sector. The project was organized in cooperation with three European professional design organizations, two educational institutions and two companies from Croatia, Austria and Macedonia.

After the successful How Work Works conference in Belgrade, Nova Iskra participated at the second consecutive European Creative Hubs Network Forumwhich was held January 26th – 28th 2017 in Athens, Greece. Forum titled syn- was focused on the theme of growth, and was organized by our colleagues from the organizations Bios and Romantso. European Creative Hubs Network (ECHN) is a project co-funded by the European Commission, led by the British Council together with consortium partners that includes Nova Iskra, i.e. association Kulturni kod. Relja Bobić, our Program Manager, also moderated one of the panels.

In late January, during the Think Up Culture conference in Palma de Mallorca, our General Manager Marko Radenković presented the operating model of Nova Iskra to the local city authorities and professionals from the field of culture. Together with the organization Creative Edinburgh from the UK, he presented the impact of creative districts and creative hubs in the development of local communities and strengthening of potentials of the creative scene.
