What is it about?
We invite children ages 8 to 10 years to a free creative-educational workshop “The Traveling Ark of Taste” on Saturday, December 14th from 11 to 13h, at Nova Iskra Dorćol.
The number of participants is limited, and all interested can apply by December 12th at the latest, after which we will confirm the registration and reserved place.
Through play in an interactive and fun way, the workshop deals with the relationship between food and culture, protection of biodiversity and the preservation of our cultural heritage.
The final part of the workshop is the “competition” in which students are encouraged to ask their moms, dads, grandmas and grandpas for old recipes and traditional ways of preparing certain foods. These recipes will then compete at the European level, representing our country. After completion of the workshop by December 25th at the latest, recipes can be sent to office@kidhub.rs.
During the workshop refreshments and educational gifts for all children will be provided.
In Cooperation with KidHub, Nova Iskra is an organizer of the workshops within the international project “Food is culture”. With the “Food is Culture” project we want to breathe in a new life with ingredients that are forgotten or endangered, giving the public an opportunity to discover them, virtually visit places of their origin and listen to stories about them. “Food is Culture” has an aim to awaken European citizens to the gastronomic heritage means of expressing their common belonging to Europe and a better understanding of the richness and uniqueness of European cultural diversity. More about the project can be viewed on the website https://novaiskra.com/food-is-culture-f-uture/
The workshop is run by KidHub’s facilitators, who held a series of workshops “Traveling Treasury of Taste” in 5 elementary schools in Belgrade during October and November.
