What is it about?

Momo Pottery  (udruženje Iskra) i inicijativa Izraz  (Novi Sad)  i Nova Iskra (Beograd) invite you to free unglazed ceramics and LEGO print workshops as part of the CraftWork4All project. The workshops will take place on Thursday, June 18th and June 25th, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The workshops will be conducted in both Serbian and English.

This unique workshop offers a fresh approach to artistic expression, economics, and ecology. Through hands-on practice, participants will master a technique that reduces clay firings from two sessions to just one. This process directly saves electricity, cuts studio operating costs, and minimizes the overall environmental footprint of ceramic production.

THE WORKSHOP IS FREE, BUT REGISTRATION IS MANDATORY HERE

THE NUMBER OF SEATS IS LIMITED

AN EMAIL WITH CONFIRMATION OF SELECTED PARTICIPANTS WILL BE SENT BY JUNE 15TH AT THE LATEST

LOCATION: SKUP,  Bulevar despota Stefana 5, Kreativni distriktNovi Sad

Who is it for?

The workshop is designed for beginners, experienced ceramicists, enthusiasts, artists, and all adults interested in creative clay work, regardless of their native language (the program is adapted for both local and international participants).

All working materials are provided.

Please note: The pieces created during the workshops will be prepared for firing and subsequently coated with liquid quartz. The finished artworks will be exhibited throughout the duration of the project.

What's in it for me?

During the workshop, you will have the opportunity to create your own unique objects, master an eco-conscious approach to ceramics, and exchange experiences in an international and creative environment. We will combine traditional clay work with play by incorporating LEGO elements.

The workshop lasts 4 hours. Participants will be divided into two groups and should choose one of the two available dates (June 18th or June 25th).

How will I learn

The workshop is structured into several practical phases (with guidance and explanations provided in both Serbian and English):

  • Introductory Part: A brief lecture on unglazed ceramics, its specific characteristics, and its ecological benefits.

  • Hands-on Work: Creating functional and decorative items using stoneware clay.

  • Decoration: Embellishing the surfaces of the objects using LEGO elements through the technique of impressing into fresh clay.

  • Final Phase: Collective preparation of the pieces for firing.

After the firing process, a short additional meeting will be organized for each group (at a later, mutually agreed time) to apply the liquid quartz coating and to collect your finished pieces.

Workshop Facilitators: Roman Chekmarev, Maria Chekmareva, Konstantinos Petrović, Marina Todić, Teodora Jonuzović

This project is supported by the Creative Europe program.
