Wrap-up of CraftLab workshop: Non-Glaze Ceramic + LEGO Print
Momo Pottery (Iskra Association), the Izraz Initiative (Novi Sad), and Nova Iskra (Belgrade) successfully organized two inspiring, hands-on workshops on June 18th and 25th at the Udruženje Skup space in Novi Sad. These sessions were held as part of the international Craftwork 4All project, proudly supported by the Creative Europe program.
Under the expert guidance of our facilitators—Roman Chekmarev, Maria Chekmareva, Konstantinos Petrović, Marina Todić, and Teodora Jonuzović—participants explored a fresh approach to artistic expression, economics, and ecology. Conducted in both Serbian and English, the workshops brought together a diverse group of beginners, experienced ceramicists, enthusiasts, and international artists.
Throughout the 4-hour sessions, participants mastered an eco-conscious technique that reduces clay firings from two sessions to just one. This process directly saves electricity, cuts studio operating costs, and minimizes the overall environmental footprint of ceramic production.
The creative process combined traditional stoneware clay work with a touch of play, as participants used LEGO elements to impress unique patterns into the fresh clay.
Following the upcoming firing process, participants will gather once more for a short additional session to apply a protective liquid quartz coating to their pieces. We are incredibly proud that these finished artworks will have the chance to be exhibited throughout the remainder of the project!
A huge thank you to everyone who participated, created, and shared their incredible energy with us.
We look forward to new gatherings, fresh ideas, and future collaborative creative processes!
