About the workshop
Youth camps represent the second module of the project, which started back in July 2020, with online media and digital literacy training courses for youth ages 16 to 22.
The goal of the second youth camp is for the participants who completed the training course, as well as the first youth camp in which they participated together with youth from Bosnia & Herzegovina and developed specific skills in the field of contemporary media production and, finally, as part of the international teams – to participate in production of their own digital media formats.
The project dedicated to raising the level of media and digital literacy of youth in Bosnia & Herzegovina and Serbia started this summer with training courses in which participants learnt about digital security, fake news, algorithms, advocacy, investigative journalism. Their media and digital literacy journey continue through two online youth camps.
Within the first online camp, participants learnt about the relationship between communications, media and messages, storytelling, choosing and recognizing relevant topics in wider community, but also in creating online content. These two-day gatherings are reserved for meeting with the youth from both countries, while creating the teams that will be working together on the idea formulation. During the second online camp that is going to be held on Saturday October 10th and Sunday October 11th, the teams will work together on defined topics and challenges. As they previously learnt about team culture, presentational skills, PR and many other relevant topics, those skills and knowledge will help them in creating their own media content.
The participants continue to work on their content, supervised by the project coordinators and mentors. Audio and visual materials, podcasts and blogs are just some of the formats that the teams will produce, depending on their own interests. Those creations will represent a clear message about the topics they were working on to their peers across the region. The newly acquired skills will be used to produce high-quality media content that is going to be promoted through social media channels of the project partners, transferring the voice of the youth to the wider audience and multiplying the project impact. In the second online youth camp, participants are going to be led by Dejan Ilić, who will help them develop the content and promote it. Dobrila Močević (PRIME Communications) and Jovana Timotijević (Ministarstvo prostora) will also be working with them during this online camp.
Due to the current pandemic situation, the second youth camp will be also held online.
Youth Media Hub is a partnership project between Nova Iskra Creative Hub from Belgrade and INTERA Technology Park from Mostar.
The project is realized within the joint regional programme Dialogue for the Future (DFF), led by UNDP, UNICEF and UNESCO, and funded by UN PBF.
