Ivana Gađanski

Scientist

Graduated from the Faculty of Biology in Belgrade as a valedictorian, followed by a PhD in neuroscience at the age of 27 at Georg-August University and the Max-Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Goettingen, Germany. For a time after her doctoral training she stayed at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. She was a Fulbright visiting professor at Columbia University in New York, worked at the Laboratory for Stem Cells and Tissue Engineering with Prof. Dr. Gordana Vunjak Novaković, and was also as a visiting scientist at the Sahlgrenska Academy in Gothenburg, Sweden. She currently works as a research associate at the Center for Bioengineering-BioIRC in Kragujevac, and as a docent at the Metropolitan University in Belgrade.

Ivana is the founder of nonprofit organization Fab Initiative, which is working on establishing fablabs in our region, and supports the development of entrepreneurship in science in Serbia and beyond. Together with Petnica Science Centre and the Metropolitan University, Fab Initiative established the first educational fablab in Serbia - Fablab Petnica, while with Polyhedra they are starting a project of 3D printing applied to biomedicine. She is also working on the establishment of the Department of micro fluidic and 3D bioprinting at BioIRC. Manages the bilateral cooperation with the National Center for Nanotechnology in Beijing and its also active in the TED Fellow program, as a member of the Global Young Academy and the Young Scientist at the World Economic Forum.
